Morgan Stanley just released an amended 13G disclosing ownership of 26,424,227 class A shares of ZNGA, an increase of over 10 million shares from their previous 13G filed on 1/6. The online social gaming platform, Zynga went public in December. Other notable funds with recent ownership positions include Tiger Global Management (7,655,958 shares on 2/14), Digital Growth Advisors (15,355,184 shares on 2/16) and Capital Research Global Investors (21,111,100 shares on 2/10).

What if we wanted to look at the difference in stock picking decisions between the most stable funds (those with the least amount of turnover) and the most active funds? Let’s find out. We’ll take the 10 funds with the least amount of turnover and compare holdings to the top 10 funds with the most turnover and then find the highest conviction stock picks from each group. This is a followup to last quarter’s Guru insights.
Finding consensus stock picks among hedge funds is one of the Primary reasons for analyzing 13f filings. The Guru Report was built to quickly assist in doing just that. You can find stocks with a high conviction among selected funds to use as a guide for your own portfolio.
The results below are for Q4 2011. Apple was still on top while Google saw a jump in individual investments by some big names. Blue Ridge Capital, Kleinheinz Capital, Lone Pine, Soros and Tiger Global all upped their holdings in GOOG. Baidu breaks into the #5 spot thanks to increased investments by Tiger Global (up 30%) and Viking Global (up 47%).
